Bitstrips was a media and technology company based in Toronto, Canada. Founded in 2007 by Jacob Blackstock, David Kennedy, Shahan Panth, Dorian Baldwin, and Jesse Brown. [1] The company's web application

, Bitstrips.com, has allowed users to create comic strips using customized avatars, pre-set templates and settings. [2] Brown and Blackstock explained that the service was designed to give them the ability to speak for themselves without the need for artistic skills. Bitstrips was first introduced in 2008 in the South-Southwest in Austin, Texas, and the service later tried and launched a version designed to be used as educational software. The service has gained increasing prominence following the launch of Facebook versions and mobile platforms.

In 2014, Bitstrips launched a spin-off app known as Bitmoji, which allows users to customize stickers for use in messaging programs in July 2016, by Snap, Inc. announce that they have acquired the company; The Bitstrips comedy service is closed, but Bitmoji continues to operate, and has since been given major prominence within the entire Spapchat platform.
